Chris Brown issued the following statement to MTV News regarding Rihanna's interview on ABC's 20/20:

"While I respect Rihanna's right to discuss the specific events of February 8, I maintain my position that all of the details should remain a private matter between us," he said in the statement. "I do appreciate her support and wish her the best. I am extremely sorry for what I did, and I accept accountability for my actions. At this point, I am taking the proper steps to learn about me and grow from my mistakes. I only hope that others in similar situations can learn from our experience as well. Abuse of any kind is always wrong. The rest I leave it to God."

Met up with the girls yesterday after not seeing them for almost 3 weeks. Had a blast. They are as crazy as ever! Tiffany still won't admit that she's secretly lusting for what's-his-name. Teddy's Forever!   Legendary R&B crooner Teddy Pendergrass passed away in Philadelphia at the age of 59 from colon cancer. Cyn City’s Straight Talk I want to start off by saying that this year has been an exciting and good year for me. Except for the fact that in the process of this year I have lost four close friends that I have known for at least 10-15 years and none of them reached the age of 42. My first lost came from a friend I knew since I was two years old. For the people on the outside looking in, it seemed like he had everything. His parents had a house that rented to 8 families.  He always had money in his pocket and nice clothes to wear.  When he was younger, no matter how much he got into trouble his family would bail him out. He had an accident in his early twenties that put him in a coma for months and it took a while but he finally came out of it. After he came out of it, he became an alcoholic. He went to sleep in May after a long night of drinking, and never woke up. He died at 39 leaving behind two children. The next friend is a woman that I knew since I was 17 years old and she used to “party like a rock star.”  Two years ago, she found out she had cancer. She died this June at age 37 leaving behind two children. Then, just when I thought it was over, the week of Thanksgiving I lost two more friends. One of them would always be high [on drugs or booze] but she could make you laugh. She would share with anyone a drink, a smoke, whatever. She died on November 21st and left behind two children. Finally, my other friend who loved to party, though she wouldn’t share sh*t, she let us know last year that she had ovarian cancer. She died this November 27th at age 41, leaving behind a son. Recently, I sit back and wondered if they loved to party more than they loved themselves and the people they left behind. Remember, “your body is like a machine and if you don’t take care of it, it will shut down.”  So my advice is to have fun with your life but make sure you don’t forget that too much of anything is never good.  R.I.P to my 4 friends, 2009. What I am saying is they're young folks who obviously had a passionate and volatile relationship, which by the way is over! He acknowledged his wrongdoing, apologized to Rihanna and his fans, serving his time for his crime. Now what?! ABC first decides to have Chris perform, but on the heels of complaints about Adam Lambert's sexually-charged performance at the American Music Awards, ABC tells Chris he can't perform but want him to tell GMA host Robin Roberts his side of the story about that infamous night with Rihanna (to air December 11th on 20/20). My question is this: If you really don't want Chris to perform on the show because of possibly offending your audience, why have him on at all?! And as Whoopi Goldberg said about this matter on ABC's The View, "this is B.S. [bullsh*t]!" I understand that by having Chris perform may suggest some sort of support, adoration and/or celebration of Chris. But I also understand that by having Chris tell his side of the story, will boost your ratings. I'm just saying! Cyn City’s Straight Talk:Maturity As a child, I loved my mother. Then I became a teenager. At 14 years old, I could not stand my mother, though I loved her to death. Between the ages of 14-20 years old, I despised her because I felt that she always acted like she knew what she was talking about. At 20 years old, I felt like I was grown. You know the “Don’t tell me nothing, I know what I’m doing” thing. From 25-28 years old, I thought I had experienced all of life. There are violent images all over the television networks, but show a little sex and folks lose their minds! At this year's American Music Awards, Adam Lambert's sexually charged performance where he simulates receiving oral sex from one of his male dancers, grinds against another and kisses his male keyboard player only gets some criticism on a few blogs and news outlets. Now I have nothing against Adam's performance nor his sexuality. In fact, I liked his show. However, isn't it interesting that (1) at any given time on network television you can see someone get shot, stabbed, hit by a car et cetera and no one makes not a ripple? And (2) there has not been any immediate uproar regarding Adam's sexually suggestive moves? Remember in 2004 right after Janet Jackson's SuperBowl Halftime show, she was slapped with many insults because Justin Timberlake ripped off fabric covering one of her breast and accidently exposed it during their performance? Then, due to thousands of complaints by people, the FCC (Federal Communications Commission) fined the network CBS, who broadcast the show and said the performance was "indecent" and that it was "the offensive spectacle of a man tearing off a woman's clothing on stage." Then, there were parents who were angry at Janet for "doing such a thing on TV for their kids to see". As if she snatched it off herself or told Justin "Rip off this fabric so everybody including my young nieces and nephews can see my titty! Justin even addressed the harsh criticism and madness aimed at Janet by saying, "If you consider it 50-50, then I probably got 10% of the blame. I think America is harsher on women. I think America is harsher on ethnic people." Now five years later, here's the openly gay "American Idol" runner up doing a sexually suggestive performance and there's no FCC involvement nor a mountain of public complaints? Cyn City's Straight Talk: Fear and pride regarding mental health in the black community.  I have two stories that I want to share that made me realize how our past has affected us, once again. As we all know, many black people have problems going to the doctor, and its even worse when it comes to going to a mental health professional. The reason that I want to discuss this is because I’ve known several people who know that their children need some mental help and just won’t send them to get it. This morning, I received a phone call from a friend about her niece and her niece's husband’s seven-year-old daughter who came to live with them and their two sons after being with a mother who's a crackhead. Their three and four-year old sons, stay with the father at night while the wife works. One evening, the father comes downstairs and finds the daughter fondling one of his sons. So he spanks her, then sends the sons off to my friend's house to stay until the wife can change her hours. Now not only has the daughter been molested but the son too, and neither child is receiving any help for this! Everyone had been telling the father that the daughter needs help, but for some reason the father wants to act like the daughter is alright. He wants to believe that all he has to do is spank the child for the act, without realizing that she has obviously been molested and needs someone to talk to in order for her to let it out and not become a child molester herself.  I have a nother friend who's married to a man who has a son.  Now when I first met the little boy, I could tell something was wrong with him. He didn't seem to be all there. Everyone else could see it too, everyone except for his father. He wanted to believe that his son was fine and didn’t need any psychiatric help. Well one day, the boy ran off and they could not find him for hours. Then one day, he stole the car keys and tried to drive to his mother’s house. Did I mention that he is ten years-old. The boy gave my friend and her husband hell! They finally could not take it and had to return him to his mother, where he is giving her problems, but still no one has taken him to see a mental health professional. Come on people, I realize that in black people’s history, doctors were not always our friend (Remember the Tuskegee Project?) But it comes a time, when you have to let that go and get you and your children some help. If you have a physical concern, you visit your doctor. Why should it be any different for mental issues? Remember, if you know exactly what you want and what you will and won’t accept then you will overcome any obstacle and easily ignore people trying to flip the script, play the “victim” and attempt to make you accountable for their shortcomings.

Simply put, you either go for the ride or get off at the next stop. Hey, life is too short to worry about what should or could be. Hey, the best revenge is not waking up one day thinking, “Damn…what the hell was I thinking?!” or "Where did the time go?"

Why don't you want to take responsibility for your actions?!

Wow! I received some interesting comments yesterday about my posting of women taking responsibility for their actions and used Rihanna & Chris's altercation as well as my own experience to illustrate my point. First, thank you all for your responses. Sometimes my topics will be controversial and I'm not going to always write what you agree with nor what you like. The name calling, which obviously means I touched a nerve for one of you in particular, I did not appreciate but I do understand your passion. The bottomline is this: It is wrong for any man to put his hands on a woman. Again, I do not condone, agree, accept or was justifying Chris's behavior or that of any abusive man. What I was merely stating was that no man or woman is responsible for our well-being! Remember Rihanna said, "He did this to me." Yes, he assualted her. But...1. She went back to him after the incident, which was not the first time they had a physical altercation. 2. She confessed that the longer they were together, the more dangerous it became. 3. She admitted that she did not drop the subject when it was clear he was not going to tell her what she wanted to hear. 4. She engaged in a heated discussion in a moving vehicle. 5. She knew he displayed a violent temper on more than one occassion. 6. It has been reported that she too has quite a temper. Now, I am not suggesting Rihanna deserved to be abused. I was and I am still asking, when did she take responsibility for HER well-being during and immediately after their blowup?

You cannot force anyone to do what you want them to do, or say what you want to hear. Hey, we've all gotten into situations where women as well as men continue to insist on answers, repeatedly telling their feelings, cussing you out - just pushing the situation overboard where a person gets frustrated and tired of hearing it. Hell, once upon a time, my natural instinct was to...excuse my French...want to knock the shit out of you when you're tap dancing on my last nerve! (LOL! Every now and then, the impulse still creeps into my head, but I've learned to control it thus my actions.) This is by no means suggesting that a woman deserves to be hit because of her expressing herself. However, words are lethal and can be just as hurtful as a punch. So if you know your man is feeding you a line of crap or if he's tossing accusations at you, calling you out of your name, etc., learn to react from your intellect and not your emotion. Say it in your actions! Resist the urge to argue. Ignore him. Walk away. Leave him alone. Don't call him. Don't answer his call. Don't see him. Now for those that are being beaten on a daily basis, I ask, "How much more can you tolerate? Where will you draw the line? When will you say enough? What are you going to do?" Accept it and hope for the best? Think that he loves you and it'll work itself out? Continue to go back to him after he says "I'm sorry"? Honey, I know sometimes leaving ain't easy and you may falsely assume that its out of your hands. But baby the greatest revenge is the love you have for yourself and yes even him to take responsibility and react to the first hurtful shout, word and/or strike with both of your feet out the door. It's time to stop blaming him and concentrate on you.

Do you believe that Rihanna played the "victim" in her 20/20 interview with Diane Sawyer regarding her altercation with Chris Brown?

To a certain extent, I believe so. Rihanna admitted there was an argument that stemmed from her catching him in a lie after questioning him about a text he received from a woman. Now ladies, let's be honest. We've all gotten into a verbal tango with a man where we said some things to accuse, taunt and hurt because quite frankly we were hurt. Now I am not justifying what Chris did at all. He was wrong! However, Rihanna has to take responsibility for her actions or lack thereof. Why didn't she stop fussing before it got...as she admitted..."ugly"? Once she realized that he was not going to tell her the truth or what she wanted to hear, why continue to press the issue? Why put your safety at risk arguing while he's driving you in his car far away from your home? If you guys displayed violent tendencies toward each other on at least 2 other separate occasions, why didn't you leave him alone then? Before you get angry and say, "WTF", allow me to explain from my own experience...

I was once in love with a man that I thought was my best friend. Our six-year relationship was filled with laughter, good times then heartache and pain. The arguments that were once shouting bouts became shoving matches and a violent shake or two. Well, one night after a particularly long day at work, a business colleague walked me to my doorstep from the subway. He innocently pecked me on the cheek then left to see his fiance, who lived in the same neighborhood. I then walked into my apartment to accusations of infidelity. My then-boyfriend was watching from the window, steaming. He threw insult after insult and although I tried to explain and pleaded with him to stop, I got so frustrated that I argued with him then screamed for him to just "shut up". Unable to keep my cool with a mounting headache, I walked up to this 6'3, 280+lb male and placed my finger to his chest and demanded him to stop. Then I turned and slammed his bike down. After a few seconds he jumped from his chair, grabbed a handful of my hair and slammed me to the floor. His weight suffocated my 5'4, 115lb frame. I kicked, screamed, spat and bit for him to get off me. His eyes seemed like those of a deranged man. He was foaming at the mouth as he shouted obscenities at me. In that moment, I did not recognize this man as the person who professed his love for me. Nor as the man I freely gave my heart and body to. When he finally got up, I went to the bathroom to wipe my tears and looked up into the mirror at my reflection. I was startled and ashamed at the battered woman who stared back at me. My hair was disheveled, had a big, bright mark across my nose, red bruises on my neck, arms and legs. I immediately got pissed and thought, "How could this have happened to me? Why did I ignore the signs?" So I walked out of the bathroom, glanced over at him as he calmly watched his big screen TV, then quietly called the police and told them I was assaulted by my boyfriend. Nine cops showed up and arrested him. I did not press charges because I didn't want to cause further embarrassment to me or him. Interestingly, he never apologized for what he did and even blamed me for the whole incident. Talk about not accepting any responsibility...Jeez! But, as I look back on that fateful night, like Rihanna, I simply did not know when to let it go or drop it. At some point ladies, we have to be responsible for our own actions and learn when to simply be quiet and just walk away. Hey, we have the power to silently say, "enough" especially after he utters those first hurtful words and certainly before his temptation strikes.

Why do we covet another woman's man?

Girl, I'm so heated! I got a call from a friend in love with another woman's man. (For those of you that's been following my blogs faithfully, yes it's the same friend who's seeing the dude that lives with his girlfriend.) Anyway, the girlfriend recently confronted my friend accusing her of sending a FaceBook email to her stating that she's been seeing her man for awhile and that she's tired of the situation and wanted to let her know. But guess what?! My friend did not send the email! The woman's teenage son sent the email posing as my friend. A hot hell of a mess, right? The son obviously figured out my friend's email & password and sent the message pretending to be my friend. Now, I know you're wondering, "how the hell did he know?". Well, dude brought his girlfriend's son to my friend's house twice under the guise that this is my "friend" and introduced him to my friend's son. (What the hell?! Having your girlfriend's son hang out with your side piece's son?! I am not the one to judge but Lawd, Lawd, some things just causes you to question people's mindset! ) Remember, kids & teens pay more attention than you think they do and blood is a lot thicker than water. I'm just sayin! Who wants to see their mommy being played for a fool?! And furthermore, what example are you setting for your son and/or daughter?!

Ladies, whether you're "wifey" or "the side chick", don't be a fool. Open your eyes! If a man wants to be with you, he'll move heaven and earth for you. If not, he'll continue to do whatever YOU ALLOW him to do TO YOU! Hey, at the end of the day, it's all in What You Do! So stand up and say, "You can't do this to me." Then as hard as it is and painful as it is, tell him, "Blame it on me, say it's my fault, say anything you want as long as its OVER!" Damn, I love those Chrisette Michele songs! Ladies, will we ever really uplift each other instead of tearing each other down?

Let’s be honest for a moment. Some of us are not the easiest people to get along with and depending on the maturity and insecurity level, could be a damn mess to each other. Hell, truth be told, I’ve never had many true female friends…just 2 or 3 in my life. There was simply a "bad taste in mouth" about women due to past experiences. Honey, the stories I could tell you about the insane crap women have said, "She think she cute!" (Yes, I do but what does that have to do with you, darling?!) and drama they’ve tried to involve me in (Petty arguments.) But you know what…it is neither here nor there. I no longer choose to allow those negative moments to take up valuable space in my mind. Besides, I finally forgave each and every one of them partly due to one woman in particular...

From the first day we met, I admired her confidence, grace, humor and beautiful smile. She sincerely welcomed me into her world and accepted me for who I was and had no trouble feeling good in her own skin as she praised mine. She even politely alerted me to any mistakes that I was making and was also very supportive in my business endeavors, even purchasing my fragrance oil & handmade lotion and wearing it with genuine delight. My beauties, Vanessa was the motivation I needed to finally swallow the “bad taste in my mouth”, and take back the power of those particular bad memories. Cyn City's Straight Talk: Why are you still there?

This week, I want to discuss how our childhood relationships can affect our adult relationships. There are some of us that have been adopted or not loved correctly by our parent/parents that make us crave for that love and affection for the rest of our lives. Without realizing it, we carry those feelings of wanting to be loved into our relationships as adults. We end up going through life with relationships that we know we should have left alone or need to leave alone. For example, we have all had those friends that we know we should have said "kiss my ass" years ago, but we keep them around. Then ask ourselves, “Why am I still hanging around this no good bitch or nigga?” You know they are jealous of you, hate on you, talk behind your back and get in all your business but for some reason we forgive them and keep them around. In the meantime, everything in your body is telling you, “let them motherfuckers go!” You know that you would not allow anybody else to get away with that shit but you allow them to do it to you. The reason: You knew them for years and you love them.  I'm here to tell you, you’re holding on to that negative friendship because you love them and you think that they love you too.  Well they don't! They love themselves and you need to start doing the same. Love them from afar and let them go! Now let's talk about a physical relationship. You get to a point with your mate that you know it’s not working or going to work, but you hang in there. You know what I'm talking about. You run into that seemingly perfect man/woman and after a year, if it last that long, you see that something is not right, but you don't leave. You stay in an unhappy relationship for years. Now mind you, you are a strong and intelligent woman/man that can give advice to all your friends about how they should leave their man/woman but you don't see that you need to leave yours.  You make excuses on why you're still there. Your reason: He/she makes you happy, sometimes. Without realizing it, you are staying with that person because you are trying to hold on to that love that you craved since you were a child.

Hey, if you are unhappy more times than you are happy in a month with your partner, it's time to do a checklist. Get a piece of paper and make a happy and unhappy list. If you find that the unhappy list is longer than the happy list than its time to make some changes. The funny thing about it is, that you already know its time to leave or make a change. You just need to stop making excuses and take that leap. Stop looking for love from the past and learn to love yourself. No one is going to love you, until you love you, and believe in yourself. So start loving and believing in you. Life is too short to stay around bullshit.You have to enjoy every minute of life, because before you
know it, it's over.

Cyn City's Straight Talk

Over the years, I’ve been told by my friends that I have great information for women but I was only able to tell them. So I would like to thank the lovely, Alicia Rivers for giving me the opportunity to let other women besides my friends get a piece of my mind. I hope that you get something to think about and something to laugh about. This is what Cyn City’s Straight Talk is all about! The topic this week is relationships. The reason why I chose this topic this week is because my partner has gotten on my last nerve! Have you ever been in a relationship and it feels heavy? You know what I mean. It's like everything becomes hard. For example, your partner asks you to go on vacation and you say, "yes" but they never book the flight. Then you wonder "why" and are told he/she cannot do it on their own because they need you to be there when they are booking the ticket. What the...?! The whole incident becomes strained instead of relaxed. You can tell when the relationship is heavy when you go out to eat and look at other people around the restaurant because there is nothing to talk about with your partner. You sit in the house together and the only non-argumentative time is when you’re watching television, hopefully you are not arguing over the remote. Next, you find yourself having a stimulating conversation with anyone but your partner. 

If this is happening to you, it's time to take a look at your relationship. At this point it's a weight that you carry around all day, everyday.  You try to not think about it, but wonder why you’re eating that extra slice of cake, or the extra slice of pizza. It could be that you feel by carrying that extra pound in your stomach, it takes away the weight on your heart. Well, I'm here to tell you that you can eat anything and everything but none of that will make you feel better. The only way to feel better is to remove or change that heavy relationship.

Love moves on...

A friend of mine said the saddest thing to me the other day…she told me that she has given up on love. She dates only for sexual gratification and/or the comfort of a man. So, anytime a gentleman gets too close she pushes him away. Like many of us can attest to, she’s still hurting from a broken heart.

She and her ex were together for 4 years and during that time what was once a relationship filled with respect, admiration, sharing and communication became a union of hurtful words, accusations, resentment and ultimately unhappiness. Simply put, they stopped listening to one another and grew apart. Admittedly, their love for one another still exists after almost 1 year, 4 months and 3 days apart, but as with many love stories this one unfortunately was not built to last. So as she cried upon my shoulders both of us caught up in the memories of a love lost, I reminded her that “nothing hurts as bad as when you see you gave up too easily.”     

There is nothing fair in the game of love and none of us wants to be a fool. But, only a fool stops believing in love. Remember, the best revenge is to live to love again. Because it is the lessons learned from an old love that teaches you how to breathe life into a new love. So, please don’t give up darling. Do not become a prisoner of past disappointments and hurt. I promise you’ll love again.

Sometimes we must embrace our inner bitch!

Recently, someone tried to intimidate me into giving her what she wanted. Interesting right? Dig this!

This broad…yes I said it…and?!!! Anyway, this chick thought that she could rattle me by trying to incite an argument peppered with some silly bully techniques. Then had the nerve to say that she was beginning to see me as a friend and that she hates to see drama between women. What the hell???! If she did not want to create drama, she would’ve communicated her thoughts with maturity instead of with an arrogance that suggests the world owes her something thinking that she can manipulate me into agreeing with her point-of-view and ultimately get me to do what I did not nor would not do. Baby, that only pisses me off and stirs the feisty hot chick in me. I'm just saying...!

You see people often underestimate us. Not realizing that we have more fight, intelligence and bite than they would have ever imagined. So, one should never judge a book by its cover, especially if it’s wrapped in a pretty and/or sexy package. Bottomline: Your worth is much, much more than anyone's perception. Remember, the best revenge is using your brain to handle the situation, not your emotion. Mistakes are often made when you react on how you feel instead of what your head and spirit tell you.

So as my mom often told me…don’t let your mouth get you in a situation that your ass cannot get you out of.  

Why let your emotions get the best of you, especially when it comes to a man?

Hotties, we've all been through this one! You like someone and you two have been dating for a minute. Hell, you may have even had sex with him and it felt real good. So you start to think, "he is the one". Hoping for a little more like taking it to the next step. Then the next thing you know, he's not calling or texting you as frequently as he once did. He seems pre-occupied all of a sudden and you start feeling a bit pissed, wanting to confront him with questions like "why he's not calling you". Or giving him attitude. Chile please, get a grip of those nasty emotions. Hearts are often broken when words that you want to hear go unspoken. Don't get caught up. Expectations can wreck havoc on one's hopes and dreams, not to mention your self-esteem! You see, men as well as women can sense when you want to move faster than their willing to walk. And honey, actions speak a hell of alot louder than words. Remember, your perception of his behavior, although your truth, may not be his reality. Simply put, he may very well be interested in you, but may be trying to deal with a few things in his own life where he needs a bit of space to do so. Or, he could be up to no good and the signs were right in front of you but you ignored them and continued to proceed thinking you could be the one to tame or change him. Baby, we've all fallen for someone...sometimes it's right, sometimes it's wrong. But it is what it is...life...and not everyone is meant to ride along. So stay true to yourself and the game. Because the best revenge is knowing your worth and when you really know your worth, you are too focused on your life to be concerned with what he's doing in his. Besides, if he's truly feeling you, he'll call soon. And if he doesn't, why are you still waiting and wishing to hear from someone who obviously defines your relationship differently than you do? Chalk it up as an experience and move the hell on! Hey nothing stops the hotness!

When people do not like what they hear or folks cannot agree, why do they resort to name-calling and yelling like they do not have an ounce of sense?! Lord, like Sheree from Bravo's Real Housewives of Atlanta and her verbal altercation with her party planner, I encountered a similar situation. I got into a dispute with someone and dude had the nerve to call me a "Bitch"! Now I wanted to go right upside his head but unfortunately you cannot do that sort of thing without facing some jail time and a fine. So instead, I took a deep breath, gave a hell of a stare and turned on my fabulush heels and left him right where he stood as he continued to huff, puff and burn his mature, holy, nice guy image right down to the ground.

Hey, I've learned that the best revenge is not acting on emotion with violence and/or nasty words but by silence, walking away and allowing him/her to have the starring & supporting roles in their theatrical release of "Look at This Damn Fool!" Dig this here, someone else's bull crap = stress for me which means a decrease in my hotness. And in the words of my girls...Hell Naw! Not Having It! Not today or tomorrow! But damn, it would have felt good in that moment to knock his block off! I'm just saying...LOL! But seriously, it feels even better to control my thoughts & actions, smile and leave him and his issues the hell alone!

Remember, the gravity of the problem is never the issue. It is not what happens nor what is said to us that will determine our outcome; it is how we handle and roll with it.

Live Pretty!

Why are so many of us still pissed off about things that happened like how long ago?! Something your mom said, your dad did, an ex wrote, blah, blah blah...Oh my word! Anywho...when will we stop crying for the little girl in us?

He was a pretty powerful figure in my life for several years. He was handsome, strong, charming, charismatic, a talented singer as well as…absent, selfish, arrogant and cruel. I adored and feared him. I wanted to be every beautiful thing he saw in himself and in me. But he physically and mentally abused every woman who ever attempted to love him…nameless faces in a turbulent sea of sex and violence. One evening, he finally gave me a taste of his poison. And as he stood within inches of my lips, with images of a woman’s blood-spattered face dancing in my head, my innocence disappeared…

A few years later, after taking a real hard look at myself, I realized that in order to experience true peace and real happiness, I must learn to save myself by forgiving those that I felt wronged me in some way. Besides, all those negative feelings are just too much toxic buildup that leads to bitterness. And how can you really enjoy the one life you have if you're too caught up in being pissed at someone for doing something that - for the most part - had nothing to do with you?! Remember, people do according to their understanding and their mess (issues, mistakes, problems, etc) should not consume your thoughts thus your life. Baby, the greatest revenge is releasing the pain and choosing to live. Forgiveness is freeing. It is something you do for yourself. It doesn't mean the person was correct in their actions that hurt you nor that you're weak for not carrying a grudge. It is just simply you're willingness to let go and move on!

You know, I ran into that “pretty powerful figure” right after my self-analysis and healing and agreed to have lunch with him. But, by the end of his explanation for his past behavior and abandonment, I gathered my things, touched his hand and said, “I forgive you…Goodbye Daddy.” No hard feelings for my father at all. Still love him, but I love myself more.

Life never tells us when or why…

I once had a HOT magazine called JOLIE. It was a beauty & wellness publication for women of color. It was my greatest achievement yet biggest disappointment. Girl, it crumbled right before my eyes and no matter what I did to save it, I lost it. Owning your own business is tough and it is not necessarily easier with partners…let me tell you. But, I took a chance and I took a fall. (And it hurt like hell!) But I picked myself up and regained my confidence as I thought, “it is my life and it is up to me on how I choose to live and live in it.”

Remember, there are few certainties in life. Hearts break. We’ll laugh, we’ll cry. We’ll win, we’ll lose. And there will always come a time when things creep up and catch us by surprise. But, the best revenge is the pain fades and you get back on your feet. As my mom often told me…when one door closes another opens. The secret is to be receptive and allow yourself to see the entry. Now if you don’t see one, kick it open, slip through the window or create one. Either way, you’ll find your point where you’ll exhale and be alright again.

For a little over 2 years, I experienced great highs and painful lows, until one day I was forced to come to the realization that it was not going to work. I have known Will 2 B for several years and he is a wonderful guy. He is honest and true to his word. I met him on the set of 105.1 with Ed Lover. He was the producer of the show. He is now working at Goom Radio and I wanted to find out what he's up to and his thoughts on a hot chick.

PrettyHotChick: What brought you to Goom Radio?

Will 2 B: I lost job at 105.1 with Ed Lover and was out of work. The old vice-president of Clear Channel was at Goom Radio and invited me there because he knew my work ethic and knew I would be an asset for this new online radio station.

PHC: What role do you play at Goom Radio?

W2B: In the morning I am on the air doing the urban jam station and at night I do the explicit content channel powered by AllHipHop.com.

PHC: What was life like working with Ed Lover?

W2B: It was the best experience of my whole entire life. Ed Lover is very opinionated and we both agreed to sometimes disagree. He is a master and legend of his craft in radio. He has been doing it for 20 years and he was the originator of the Hip Hop morning radio.

PHC: In light of the whole Rhianna and Chris Brown saga, I know there are different beefs between artists, how do you ask the difficult questions without them getting upset and clamming up in the Hip Hop world?

W2B: Build up their confidence first, before you ask questions. You can't just walk in and ask these questions without them putting up the defense. When they know that you have their best interest in mind and you are not out to attack them, they feel comfortable to answer the tough questions. If they dance around the question, then you let it go and laugh at the situation.

PHC: What is your definition of a hot chick?

W2B: It changes daily, there are so many types, where do I start?

PHC: I'll make it easy for you. Name the top 3 things that makes a woman a Hot Chick to you?

W2B: 1. a job, preferably full time 2. her own apartment without roommates, that includes her mother 3. she has to know how to cook.
